Started grade school at Elgin Street Public School in 1960.

Curious and eager, he stepped into Elgin Street Public School hand-in-hand with his mother, his backpack nearly as big as he was, brimming with excitement for learning.

Graduated from Brockville High School in 1972.

1972
Graduating with honors, he strode across the Brockville High stage with a grateful smile, proud to be the first in his family to earn a high school diploma.

Received a BA degree Carleton University

1977
Daniel received his Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University, celebrating the achievement with his closest friends, his parents beaming with pride as they toasted his dedication and hard work.

Travelling The World

1978
He set out for Asia with a well-worn backpack and boundless curiosity, wandering busy markets and tranquil temples, returning home forever changed by the vibrant colors, flavors, and friendships found along the way.

Married

1979
He married his beloved Linda Woons on a sunny June afternoon, exchanging vows surrounded by family and friends, and beginning a joyful partnership full of laughter, trust, and adventure.

Began Working for the Canadian Department of Natural Resources

1980
On his first day at the Department of Natural Resources, he wore his best suit and carried a new briefcase, stepping confidently into public service and eager to make a difference for Canada’s forests.

1st Marathon

1994
He crossed the marathon finish line breathless and triumphant, cheered on by loved ones, forever proud of the grit and perseverance that carried him every step through the city he called home.

Awarded the Ottawa Community Hero Award

2005
He was honoured with the Ottawa Community Hero Award, recognized for his tireless dedication to his community. Daniel hung this Award in his home office.

First Publication

2012
His first published book of poetry was #3 on the NY Times Bestsellers List for two weeks. Writing was a deep passion for Daniel.
